Call for Papers for Special Issue on
Fundamentals and Applications of Nanoparticle Synthesis and Processing in liquids in Applied Surface Science

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to contribute to a Special Issue of Applied Surface Science dedicated to Fundamentals and Applications of Nanoparticle Synthesis and Processing in liquids. The articles will follow a standard peer review process, allowing only high-quality research papers to be published.

The Special Issue will address the topics related to the emerging field of Laser/matter interaction in liquids, which offers several synthesis routes for nanoparticle generation: laser ablation in liquids of a solid targets (LAL), laser melting in liquids (LML), and laser fragmentation in liquids (LFL).

Research topics may include (but not limited): modelling and fundamentals of laser-based nanomaterial generation in liquids, in-situ characterisation (imaging, plasma spectroscopy, SAXS), metallic particles, nano-alloys, core-shell particles, carbon particles, oxide particles, nano-hybrids and conjugation with organic molecules and biomolecules, applications to biomedicine, catalyst, photonics, sensor, and Nanoparticle productivity / scale-up.

Both original research and review papers are welcome for possible publication in this issue.

Submission Format and Guidelines

We will be accepting submissions from June 11th 2018 until August 31st 2018. Authors must follow Applied Surface Science’s Guide for Authors for formatting requirements ( To submit a paper, the author(s) must select “VSI: ANGEL2018” as the special issue title. The submission website is located at

Each paper will be reviewed by the editor and papers that meet the journal’s requirements will be sent for anonymous peer review. Please note that being invited to submit to a special issue does not guarantee publication.
