By air directly to Charlottesville: Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) is ~15 miles north of the city center and Omni Hotel. When you arrive at CHO, you usually find taxis waiting at the airport. If you wish, you can also arrange a taxi by phone in advance, especially if you arrive late at night. The average taxi fare between CHO and Charlottesville is $35 plus a tip (10-15%). There is no city bus to and from CHO. Several car rental companies are available right at the terminal. By air to Washington, DC: One of the major international airports to Charlottesville is Dulles International Airport (IAD), located outside Washington, DC. IAD is about 100 miles (~2.5 hours driving) from Charlottesville. There is no direct public transportation available between IAD and Charlottesville. From Washington, DC to Charlottesville, VA by train: Recently opened Silver Line of Washington Metro now extends to IAD, enabling an option of flight to IAD → Metro to train station (Union Station) → train to Charlottesville. The train station in Charlottesville is close (walking distance) to the Downtown Mall and Omni Hotel.

By air to Richmond, Virginia: Richmond International Airport (RIC) is ~70 miles (~1.5 hours driving) east of Charlottesville. RIC itself is 20 miles east of Richmond. There is no bus service between RIC and Charlottesville. Car rentals are available at the airport.
